John Long -- Co-Owner, Technician & Service Writer
John Long started his career in the Automotive Repair Industry by attending the Automotive Program at Round Rock High School. He is a 1989 graduate of the prestigious Wyoming Technical School with an Associate's Degree in Automotive Science. He currently is an ASE Certified Master Technician in Engine Repair, Automatic Trans/Transaxle, Manual Drive Train and Axles, Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electrical/Electrical Systems, Heating and Air Conditioning and Engine Performance. Having worked at Roger Beasley North, Christian Brothers Automotive and Premier Mazda in Georgetown, John has over 15 years of professional experience with virtually every make and model in existence. His dream of owning his own shop was realized in 2003 with the opening of the Round Rock Shop and then again in 2008 with the opening of his second location in Georgetown.

Corky Matney - Founder/Co-Owner
As the original proprietor, Corky opened Japanese Specialist in downtown Austin over 15 years ago. Relocating to Round Rock in 2000, Corky brought John in as a partner 6 years ago and the business has boomed ever since. With Automotive Specialist now in good hands, Corky spends most of his time running his other operation, First Hand Car Wash on 183 in Austin.

Dan Pedroza - Service Manager for Round Rock & Georgetown
Dan Pedroza is our Service Manager at both of our locations. He is a 1993 graduate from the University of Texas at El Paso with BBAs in Computer Information Systems and Marketing. Since 1998, Dan has been involved in the automotive industry in many capacities. Before joining Automotive Specialist, he worked at Christian Brothers Automotive as an ASE Certified Service Writer for an extremely talented group of ASE Certified Master Technicians and gained valuable experience on how to run a successful shop ethically and professionally.
Brian joined Automotive Specialist in January 2008 as a Service Writer at our Round Rock Location. He has an English Degree from UT. Brian's experience includes working as a porter at Don Hewlett Chevorlet, selling cars at Classic Honda, customer service at a Houston automotive dealership and a parts manager at Volvo. Brian and his wife Karen welcomed their first child in October.
Jonathan is our newest service writer at our Round Rock Location. He received his degree in Automotive Technology from St. Phillips University in San Antonio. He worked for several years at Hewlitt as a Technician and then moved to California to build Custom Chassis and worked in Stereo Shop Management. Jonathan and his wife just had their first child.
Brent joined Automotive Specialist in 2008 as a Service Writer at our Georgetown Location. Brent is an Automotive Electronics Specialist, with a 12 year background in the mobile electronics industry, show cars, and custom car audio. He is M.E.C.P. (Mobile Electronics Certification Program) certified and owned his own car audio shop for four years until he was hired by Alpine Electronics in Los Angeles, CA to fabricate custom concept cars for two years. Brent and his wife Heather have moved back home to Texas to start a family and are expecting their first child in September.
Our veteran technician at our Round Rock Location, Vern has been with Automotive Specialist since John took over the shop space in 2005. With 25 years professional experience, Vern is our master tech for virtually all japanese models.

Ernie Miller - Technician
Ernie was at Christian Brothers for over 5 years and ran his own shop for 7 years before that. Married for 24 years, he built and flies his own airplane. We are proud to have him. Ernie is our Lead Technician at our Round Rock loaction and is a "customers favorite" technician.

Adam Ambabo - Technician
Adam has almost 20 years in the Automotive Industry. He lived in Hawaii for 15 years and attended UHCC in Hawaii. Adam is a L-1 & A/C ASE Certified Mechanic. Adam works at our Round Rock location.

Robin Everett - Technician
Robin joined our Round Rock team in 2007. He has been a tech since 2000 and was at NTB for 6 years and Riata Ford for 1 year. His specialty is Heavy Line Work--Engines, Clutches, Rear Ends, Brakes and Steering Suspensions.

Ray Hrouda--Technician
Ray joined our Round Rock location as a Technician in June 2009. He comes to us with over 17 years in the automotive repair industry with 14 of those years as a Lead Mechanic. He is currently ASE Certified in Brakes and loves all phases of automotive repair. We are glad to have Ray in our lineup of technicians.

Jacob Baird- Jr. Technician
Jacob is the newest and youngest member of the Round Rock Shop. He performs State Inpections, Oil Changes and Tire Services. He is currently training to become a full service technician and has shown us a great amount of potential.

Darryl Coleman--Technician
Darryl is a Master Mechanic and heads up our Georgetown Location. With over 25 years of experience working on cars he has worked all makes and models of vehicles. He keeps the Georgetown Shop "rocking" with the best music! Darryl and his wife live in Round Rock.

Jeremiah Hedges- Technician
Jeremiah is a master convertible top and rollbar installer and performs all of our inspections, alignments and oil changes. He works along with Darryl at our Georgetown location and is training to become a full-fledged technician. Jeremiah's Quote: "WHAT??"

Brian Litson- Technician
Brian comes to our Georgetown Location with over 24 years of Automotive Repair experience. He has worked on pretty much every make and model of vehicle out there. Brian is single and has lived in the Central Texas area most of his life and when not at work he is busy raising his 17 year old son and looking for that "special woman". So Single Ladies come meet Brian!

Cody Peterson- Jr. Technician
Cody is our newest member of the Georgetown Shop. He just graduated from John's "Alma Mater", the prestigious Wyoming Tech, and is looking forward to beginning his career as an Technician. Cody was raised and currently lives in Florence.

Dennis Hedges - CFO
Dennis retired from IBM in 1997 and went to work in the pro shop at Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown, mostly for the free golf. With over 18 years of management and finance experience, he makes sure the shop runs in the black and John doesn't do everything for free. Dennis's Quote: "See you tomorrow if the Lord's willing and the creek don't rise"
After 15 years of marriage to John, the two have finally realized their vision of running a shop together. She has been involved in the automotive industry for over 20 years, starting for Covert group & then Roger Beasley Mazda and meeting John at Saturn of Austin years ago. They have worked together ever since at several dealerships in Central Texas and continue living their dream of owning/running an honest, ethical repair shop. Jeana acts as general customer service .

Jeanette King--Customer Service in Round Rock
Jeanette (John Long's much younger sister) joined Automotive Specialist in 2008. She serves as John's Assistant and general customer service, maintaining the website, running the shuttle service and mainly does whatever John tells her to do. When not working you can find her at the baseball fields with her son.
